Our results at Professional Photographers of Iowa Print Competition
Our results at Professional Photographers of Iowa Print Competition this year brought very good results and helps prepare me for regional affiliated judging where the scores will help me in the steps to earn my Masters in Photography. I feel very honored and blessed to be recognized for my artwork that was all generated for clients, meaning none of these were set up to try to win an award. There were over 400 entries submitted this year for competition and here are the results and the images that received awards.

Our photo entitled “Delaney’s Natural Beauty” & “Jonny C” scored high enough to be displayed in the print show.
Get your Burriotos from Brian at Hot Harry’s!
The great thing about doing senior photography is getting to know something about them, and I always like to know what their part-time jobs are in the consultation. So when Brian from Marion HS mentioned Hot Harry’s Burritos was his gig– I had an idea pop instantly. I love the name of their business so I asked if we could incorporate Hot Harry’s into his senior photos; Brian said it is a fun place to work and I suggested setting a burrito on fire would be must! So here we go, we are going to make a poster for Brian to hang in his room, and hopefully at Hot Harry’s and who knows maybe Brian of ” Hot Harry’s” will be the equivalent of Jared from “Subway” someday soon. You can see the rest of Brian’s session at this link. You might want to check out what we did to his trombone too, thanks Brian for a great session!
Delaney a MODEL Senior
I have known Miss Delaney for a pretty long time she she is best friends with my daughter. Delaney has always dressed nice, and often looks like she just stepped out of a magazine, so when I got the call to do her Senior portraits I was honored to be selected. While really Delaney is a natural beauty, the way she does her make up brings your attention immediately to her dark brown eyes, and her fantastic smile–EXACTLY what you want for your portraits! The other key for a successful portrait is the attention to detail, and so Delaney’s fashion accessories come into play… the jewelry, the scarfs, her jackets ar the little things that take her images over the top and make her images ROCK. Hmmm wondering if I can hire Delaney to be a “fashion consultant” for future seniors…? Thanks Delaney for a great session you “Got the Look”! You can see her studio session at this link and her fall session at this link
Brian Jedlicka 2011 Senior
It always makes a guy feel good when you earn the trust of a family and get to be their family photographer. I was lucky enough to get to do eldest Jedlicka –Karl several years ago and then Reece a couple of years after that, and now Brian for the Solon Class of 2011! and we have had a few family photo shoots in between too. It was a bit chaotic around the studio today with the County doing some work on our property and their help in finding my phone line by cutting it in two! All this while putting in a culvert that was promised back in April, and of course chose a day when I really needed a driveway, I had visions of the Jedlicka’s having to do the Duke’s of Hazard approach to the studio when I had no driveway at Noon and them due at 2 pm! But MaryAnn being the trooper she is took my suggestion of a 15 minute delay which ended up being very wise on my part and as the driveway was open for business a little after 2 pm!
It was a fun shoot with Brian today hearing about the end of soccer season and the prep for upcoming Football season with visions of 4th state championship as a goal.
here are just a few sample from Brian’s session and the rest can be see at this link
Andrea 2010 Prairie Senior
I have know Andrea for many years when she was one of my Tai Chi
students in College For Kids; She was an outstanding student then, and she has
become a very impressive young lady. Andrea has been a good friend of
Rubicon Photo and sent her sister for senior pictures a few years ago, it is nice to
have these long-term relationships that are more friendship based. This shoot is
just some of my favorites from her outdoor session. Click here to see more from
this session, or to see her studio session early this spring click here. Andrea is a
2010 Ambassador for Rubicon Photo if you are friends with Andrea see her for a
