Brian Jedlicka 2011 Senior
It always makes a guy feel good when you earn the trust of a family and get to be their family photographer. I was lucky enough to get to do eldest Jedlicka –Karl several years ago and then Reece a couple of years after that, and now Brian for the Solon Class of 2011! and we have had a few family photo shoots in between too. It was a bit chaotic around the studio today with the County doing some work on our property and their help in finding my phone line by cutting it in two! All this while putting in a culvert that was promised back in April, and of course chose a day when I really needed a driveway, I had visions of the Jedlicka’s having to do the Duke’s of Hazard approach to the studio when I had no driveway at Noon and them due at 2 pm! But MaryAnn being the trooper she is took my suggestion of a 15 minute delay which ended up being very wise on my part and as the driveway was open for business a little after 2 pm!
It was a fun shoot with Brian today hearing about the end of soccer season and the prep for upcoming Football season with visions of 4th state championship as a goal.

Miss Katy National American Miss contestant
I am proud to sponsor Miss Katy into the National American Miss pageant, as part of the sponsorship we did this photo session so she will have great images to help her with her entries. I have known Katy for several years now and she is a great young lady. Katy is one of my AYSO Soccer players and she plays a mean game of soccer so don’t let the frilly dresses fool you! A multi-talented young lady, I bet she is going to do very well in this pageant. Aspiring young models take note, doing pageants like these in my opinion is a better way to go then doing modeling schools, if you wonder why I say this it would be worth a call or an email to me to explain further. Congratulations Mt Vernon U14 AYSO Boys Playoff Champs!
Congratulations to the Mt Vernon U14 AYSO Boys for winning the Region 1112 AYSO Playoffs today! I am sure glad I could stay and watch your final game! You guys play amazing soccer! It was an exciting 0-0 game! Got to give a shout out to my buddy Matthew for some great defensive plays, loved that slide tackle, and your backward kick that almost looked like a bicycle kick! Congrats to coaches Neil Rud, and Tom Bootmiller ! While photographically not the best time to take a picture after a hard fought game and ending in the rain, you gotta take it when they are passing out the “shinny” things! Good Job Guys!
1st Annual Mount Vernon Chocolate Stroll
I volunteered a little time and talent today for the 1st Annual Mount Vernon Chocolate Stroll–thinking optimistically that it will be come a new annual event. Looks like organizers Trude & Rick Elliott of the First Street Community Center did a great job. I thought it was a very nice event, and heard great comments while taking the pictures; a lot of people of all ages enjoying music, art, shopping and of course very tempting FREE chocolate samples!

Yahoo! Mount Vernon Girls WIN
Just have to do a shout out to the Mt. Vernon and Lisbon Girls Soccer team on a great WIN last night against Western Dubuque. It was nice to see the girls earn their first victory this season, as they have been playing very hard and improving every game. It is great to see so many of my former AYSO girls out there on the pitch leading the team. Congrats ladies on your 3-2 win in Overtime victory! Good luck at your next home game on Friday! Dance Arts Iowa Memory Mates –bring in the Clowns!
It was a great Saturday working with Ellis and Kaleena from Dance Arts Iowa capturing the Memory Mate Photos for parents. This year’s recital is a Big Top Circus so there are lots of creative options for their dance costumes. Here is a sample of some photos, along with the “Funny Faces” photos we take to keep the session fun for the kids. The kids were awesome to work with, and to me is a testimony for how well Ellis and Kaleena works with their students.
Mount Vernon Theatre Dept presents the Pajama Game this weekend
Had a fun evening getting a sneak peek at The Mount Vernon Theatre Department’s ” The Pajama Game” It is a very funny musical and the talent in Mt. Vernon never ceases to amaze me.
