Mount Vernon Football Game Photos

Posted by: on August 30, 2011

Friday Night Lights! one of the things I love about living in a small town is Home Football Games! This year started out with an exciting game against the Marion Indians, who used to be my arch rivals when I attended Linn-Mar ( Class of 1984) so now living in Mustang territory the Indians are still foes at least on the game field,–still  have lots of friends and great clients from Marion.  This year is the 2nd annual Mustang Football Game action photo fundraising program.  This program is a Win for Mustang Fans as families of players can get professional action photos that they would be extremely difficult to capture without our help, a Win for the Mustang Football program as we donate 10% of the sales back, and a WIN for me in that I know who is interested in getting photos of their student athlete, and I can focus my lens on them.

There is still time to get “vested” in the program you have until our 2nd home game on Sept 16th which is Homecoming game too.  To get in the program you must buy 1 gift card for $50 by 9-16.   Call us for the money back guarantee and other details. Plus with your gift card purchase you get 10% gift bonus to spend. Plus we honor your Mount Vernon Football Program card, making it very affordable to get actions of your sports star!

Here are a few highlight photos from the Marion Game! Great job Mustangs very proud of your first game!

you can go to our Online Gallery to enjoy or order your reprints of the game at this link Mt Vernon Vs Marion

Special Women’s Self-Defense Class offered this Sunday 7-31-11

Posted by: on July 25, 2011

While I am primarily a photographer one of my other passions is martial arts.  Specifically I enjoy teaching Tai Chi, but also teaching others how to defend themselves.  I believe I have some very simple self-defense moves that anyone can do to defend themselves.  A few years ago I came across JustYellFire.com from seeing an report on Good Morning America.  I was so impressed with the video young Dallas Jesup had created and physical strategies so much I went and did a certification process to teach women their techniques which should really be called self-preservation techniques more then self-defense.  I encourage all high school or college bound women to attend this class. Thanks to my sponsors of Elliott’s Uptown Fitness

Iowa Physical Therapy

Transformation Fitness

their sponsorship helped me keep the class fee low as possible to help get this information out.
Due to the nature of the information presented at this class this class is for young women high school age and up.  I do have a female instructor assisting me in this training Allison Scheer a member of the Transformation Fitness staff. Please call me for a reservation or if you have any questions about this class.  It would be helpful if you attend to watch the JustYellFire.com free video you can watch/download online.

area Churches to present “To Save a Life” in Mount Vernon May 11, 2011

Posted by: on May 1, 2011

Hello my Blog Followers, just wanting to post about an event that I am helping organize in our community to help our Youth begin a dialogue about the problems they are facing.  This movie is a great vehicle to open the lines of communication with it’s frank portrayal of the social issues teens face, from drugs, alcohol, sex and suicide. The hope of the movie is to get Teens to look for A Higher Purpose, and look at their relationship with God.  Change a Life, Save a Life is one motto from this movie,  and we hope by bringing these topics out into the open we can help our Youth stay vigilant to make GOoD Choices as one bad choice can wipe away all the previous good choices.  We have had two recent tragedies in our community which was the catalyst for showing this movie, but with Proms and Graduation Parties right around the corner it is important to show this film for those reasons too.  There is also a parent viewing planned the week prior to the Youth event. You can see info in the photo posters posted in this blog

Mount Vernon High School to perform “High School Musical”

Posted by: on March 29, 2011

It was nice to be asked again to help with the Mount Vernon High School Musical poster, and this year’s performance is Disney’s “High School Musical”.   The challenge for this project was trying to get the whole cast seen in the poster, I think we did a good job getting this accomplished. While talking with Director Tom Stephens the idea of the cast autographing the posters came up so I took advantage of the extra photos we took of the cliques and made a back side to the poster for the cast to be able to autograph easier.

I am looking forward to seeing this production, they always do a great job with the musicals at Mount Vernon, and we have a bunch of talented young artists.
