Mt Vernon Football vs Maquoketa
Hello all Mustang fans, sorry for the delay getting these online this weekend, but my host had a server crash and their back up systems did not work so the site was down until Sunday. Then in my haste to get them up I put them in the wrong category on the Online Gallery, so here is the corrected link to see the Mt. Vernon vs Maquoketa game. It was a very good competitive game against the Cardinals, keep up the hard work Mustangs and you will get the “Ws” you deserve.
It was fun to catch the Freshman game, check out the pro like moves of Trey Ryan, looks like a bright future for the Mustangs with these guys coming up the ranks!

It is time for Friday night lights and that means it my favorite time of year–FALL, well at least normally it is. Football season starting a week early this season makes it a hot start to the season. Here are a few highlight photos of the Mount Vernon Mustangs against the Marion Indians from opening night 8-27. You can see more at this link

Special photo project for special lady
My sister and brother in-law hit me up for an idea for a special photo present for my Mother-in law for her 70th birthday, and while they admitted I would be doing more work on it then they would, it ended up to be a fun challenge to put together. The task was to create a Victorian type photo that fits my Mother-in Law’s decor’. The challenge was doing the old type silhouettes of all the grandchildren and putting them into one print. I liked the idea and was not sure exactly how I would do it but I was pleased with the results, so here is the final image, added a nice frame and a project that made Grammy very happy.![]()
New – Old prop arrives today at Rubicon Photo
Well sometimes things just fall into place, while photographing a 1913 Model T and his very cool Viper for Jim Anderson this weekend of Anderson Racing and Anderson Automotive in Marion ( FYI we highly recommend them for your vehicles by the way) found out he just acquired this vintage truck and he needed a resting place for it until it makes it up his to do list, so now we have this very cool looking vintage 1947 Dodge Truck strategically located in our outdoor studio. This should be a fun prop for High School Seniors who seemed to have acquired an affinity for the vintage cars. For some reason I could not get a similar arrangement with Jim for the Dodge Viper! LOL
Mt Vernon VBS 2010
Another hot July and another great week at VBS with the kids of Mt Vernon. This years Groups VBS has me busy taking pictures of the “crews” as they go from station to station, but my primary gig is taking the Spotlight Video during games but that just does not cover it so here is a link to my first “bonus” feature of photos that show some of the behind the scene set up of VBS and a few other fun photos. Groups VBS is using SmileBox so I am using that service for these videos.

Attention Mt Vernon & Lisbon friends and customers
ATTENTION Mt Vernon and Lisbon friends– If you are interested in a NEW option for HI Speed Internet Service please post this blog so I can document the names. My ISP Speedconnect.com has bought my old ISP ( Commspeed) and is willing to expand into MTV/L if there is enough interest. If I can get 50 names they will look into our market. This service is WIRELESS so great for RURAL locations as well as in town. So if you are unhappy with Quest or MediaCom this is an opportunity to get a new service into the area!
Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market
It was a fantastic day for another Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market. It is great to see so many people take advantage of the Market and support local businesses. I enjoy capturing the Farmers Market for the Downtown District, who coordinate these events, full of entertainment like the Eastern Iowa Brass Band plus, you can find out information about area non-profits. The kids seem to have a blast especailly those lucky enough to get a balloon animal from Pappa Ballon–not your run of the mill balloon animals mind you. Another treat is getting a now famous “Primo Burrito ” from Victor’s Place , the line for these is long, but moves fast; Another cool thing about going to the Farmers Markets is running into friends/clients and catching up on news. Anyways check out some highlight photos of the day.
