Great day for a lunch at the Skillet in Mt Vernon

Just had lunch in Mt Vernon at the Skillet, great food and atmosphere!

Get your Burriotos from Brian at Hot Harry’s!

The great thing about doing senior photography is getting to know something about them,  and I always like to know what their part-time jobs are in the consultation.   So when Brian from Marion HS mentioned Hot Harry’s Burritos was his gig– I had an idea pop instantly.  I love the name of their business so I asked if we could incorporate Hot Harry’s  into his senior photos;  Brian said it is a fun place to work and I suggested setting a burrito on fire would be must!  So here we go, we are going to make a poster for Brian to hang in his room, and hopefully at Hot Harry’s and who knows maybe Brian of ” Hot Harry’s” will be the equivalent of Jared from “Subway” someday soon.  You can see the rest of Brian’s session at this link. You might want to check out what we did to his trombone too, thanks Brian for a great session!

St. John’s Youth Ministry poster

Look out Mt Vernon, here comes the St. John’s Youth Ministry poster that will be hitting the streets next week.  The theme comes party due to their Church having a major renovation and since things are bit behind schedule we made lemonade out of the situation  and used the construction theme– and the kids ran with the idea further and brought lots of props.  St. John’s has a lot  of young people in this Youth Group, lots of familiar faces

Delaney a MODEL Senior

I have known Miss Delaney for a pretty long time she she is best friends with my daughter.   Delaney has always dressed nice, and often looks like she just stepped out of a magazine, so when I got the call to do her Senior portraits I was honored to be selected.  While really Delaney is a natural beauty, the way she does her make up brings your attention immediately to her dark brown eyes, and her fantastic smile–EXACTLY what you want for your portraits!  The other key for a successful portrait is the attention to detail, and so Delaney’s fashion accessories come into play… the jewelry, the scarfs, her jackets ar the little things that take her images over the top and make her images ROCK.  Hmmm wondering if I can hire Delaney to be a “fashion consultant” for future seniors…?  Thanks Delaney for a great session you “Got the Look”!  You can see her studio session at this link and her fall session at this link

20th Anniversary of the Especially for You -Race for a Cure cancer walk

It was a beautiful Iowa fall day for the 20th Anniversary of the Especially For You Cancer Walk sponsored by Mercy Medical Center and General Mills and supported by many other businesses.  It was great to be a part of this event for the last 5 years, this year I came up with this idea to capture the cancer survivors for this special year.  While this is the first time I attempted writing something with people, thanks to Michelle, Karen, and Rebecca from EFY/MMC it came out awesome.  This commemorative photo can be ordered as an 8×10 for $15 or as a 5×7 for $10 plus $8.00 for s/h per orderBut Rubicon Photo will be donating 10% of all sales back to the EFY Race, you can see the order form below the image.  You can see and order highlight images at our online gallery at this link
