Terrell CR Kennedy Senior 2011

Thanks to the inspiration of a fellow photographer friend I have been wanting to create some killer sports collages like he does,

so here is my project from this morning of Terrell, from CR Kennedy, and of his friend Shannon.  It was sure a lot of fun working with these two long time friends.

Rapid Spikers at Highway 1 Tournament

Spent a fun morning photographing a couple of volleyball matches for the Rapid Spikers at Highway 1 Tournament at Cornell College.  A very nice group of young ladies.  You can check out the photos at this link

I did a quick collage for Erica, her family is a long-term customer, so it was nice to see older sis’ Laura again too, who was the Coach of the Rapid Spikers.

Ok Sports teams, you got some new competition in town– the Drama department!

I jumped at the opportunity to help the Mount Vernon Theatre Department for the Spring Musical The Pajama Game.   Just a quick look at this “starting” aka Starring line up and you know this will be a great production.  The talent in Mount Vernon in all arenas academics, athletics, and in the arts is truly amazing

NE Iowa Professional Photographers meeting yesterday

Just wanted to do a quick post about our Northeast Iowa Professional Photographers meeting yesterday.  As President of this organization I am in charge of booking speakers and yesterday the theme was keeping up with technology.  I booked my good friend from  high school days as our morning speaker– Bob Randklev of Cyberinnovation.   Bob spoke  about all the ways we can stay in touch with our clients via social networking but yet still have time in the day to do the work we need to get done.  Bob has his finger on the pulse of changes we will be facing on the digital super highway.  If you like our new website, then you need to check out Bob’s site at Cyberinnovation as they set up my site.  The meeting was a huge success in large part to my friends and associates Trude & Kelly at the Mount Vernon Community Center, for the use of their community room.  We had an absolutely delicious meal at the Skillet’ Cafe just a short walk away.  The afternoon session was also very helpful from Mike Moss at McKenna Professional Imaging helping us determine the best albums to choose for our clients so they will end up with an heirloom product for weddings for example,  or when needed or a more value based price for seniors and family projects.  Plus, he gave us some great new ideas on how to use photo books,  like doing a senior graduation guest book.  The day ended with a tour of other area studios C&J Studios and Envisage, and our studio –the  socializing was a great way to conclude the day.
